Ghana stands on the cusp of embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), and the Ghana STEM Olympiad serves as a powerful indicator of that readiness. If the Ghana STEM Olympiad is any reflection of our potential, then we are poised for an exciting journey into the future.
The 3rd edition of the Ghana STEM Olympiad showcased an astonishing level of brilliance, creativity, and technological prowess that has truly captivated the world. It was a breathtaking spectacle as young innovators and visionary thinkers took the stage, dazzling everyone with their extraordinary talents in STEM. The grand finale of the Gh STEM Olympiad was a spectacular celebration of creativity and ingenuity, where young innovators and futuristic minds brought their projects to life, captivating the audience with their brilliance.
Thanks to the generous support of the Ghana Olympiad Academy (GOA), this unforgettable event united STEM enthusiasts and admirers alike, creating an electric atmosphere filled with inspiration and admiration for the next generation of thinkers and problem-solvers. The Gh STEM Olympiad is an exciting initiative by the GOA, designed to empower Ghanaian students to take the giant leap into the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The incredible creativity displayed at the 3rd GH STEM Olympiad truly showcases how the GOA is empowering Ghana’s youth with the essential technological skills needed to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It’s inspiring to see how these young minds are being equipped to navigate the future.
To start with, the competition invited all interested Ghanaian students to demonstrate their talents in the world of STEM. This year, a remarkable 525 candidates from Grades 9-11 (JHS 3-SHS 2) across 67 schools eagerly stepped up to showcase their skills in the 3rd Gh STEM Olympiad. It was a fantastic opportunity for these young innovators to shine and make their mark. In an exciting online preliminary round, candidates faced the challenge of solving 60 questions within just 60 minutes. The competition was fierce, but from the twenty-three participating schools, an impressive eighty-seven candidates triumphed and earned their spots in the grand finale. This thrilling culmination took place at Healthy Minds International School on Saturday, October 26, 2024, where intellect and determination truly shined.
The grand finale unfolded in two exciting sessions: the Theory Session and the dynamic STEM Engagement Session. The highlight of the event came when Emmanuel Abakah-Middley from St. John’s Senior in Sekondi was crowned the champion of the 3rd edition of the Ghana STEM Olympiad.
But the celebration didn’t stop there. Many talented students showcased their exceptional skills and knowledge, impressing everyone even if they didn’t take home the top prize. They were: 2nd place Sarah Sarkodie from Holy Child School, 3rd place Josiah Adams from GIU Christian Academy, Russell Habada, Presec-Legon, Paul Manteaw Anakwa, Ghana Christian International School, and Elaine Maame Afua Arhin, Ghana Christian International School. The rest are Jonathan Addo-Yobo, Labone SHS, Mantram Saini, DPS International, Kezia Ewura Abena Opoku-Agyeman, Ghana International School, Adama Datti Harold, St. Augustine’s College, Carlos Apoe, Ghana Christian International School.
We’re therefore thrilled to announce that forty outstanding students have officially joined Team Ghana – Ghana STEM honours, and they’ll be representing our nation at various International Olympiads.
A huge round of applause is for these talented students and their dedicated coaches. Let’s celebrate their hard work and dedication. The innovative ideas and solutions in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) showcased by these students were truly captivating. Their brilliance has proven that Ghana’s future is not just bright but also brimming with endless possibilities.
